Membership
ASCPRO consists of symptom researchers, government and funding agency representatives, pharmaceutical company representatives, patient advocates, and policy makers in cancer care quality control. Its deliberations will be augmented by invited specialists and targeted meetings for specific symptoms (such as fatigue, sleep disturbance, cognitive dysfunction) or trial design and analysis issues.
At present, membership is restricted to invited participants of specific task force groups.
Organizational Structure
ASCPRO’s organizational structure includes the members and several subsets of the whole, including an Executive Committee, targeted Task Forces, and Expert Advisors. The membership roster includes several of the attendees of an initial meeting in Charlottesville, Virginia in August 2006, along with other stakeholders. The Executive Committee consists of the two co-chairs and one or more additional members who represent academia and/or industry. The Expert Advisors comprise experts from academia and industry who are knowledgeable in symptom measurement, trial design, and statistics. ASCPRO members will chair specific Task Forces and will incorporate Expert Advisors when needed.
ASCPRO members represent skill sets, insights, and experience that are important for the organization's goals; however, they do not speak for their respective organizations or companies in ASCPRO discussions and publications.
Membership Roster
ASCPRO members set meeting schedules and develop group hypotheses to take to pharmaceutical manufacturers for consideration for funding and data sharing. The members will select topics for study, create topic task force groups, and review task force products. Ultimately, the group will make recommendations about symptom assessment in clinical trials.
